How D-FY-IT Works

A student desiring to join D-FY-IT must register at his/her school for a scheduled visit from the D-FY-IT mobile testing facility. The student signs a consent form, and a specimen is given to medical personnel in the vehicle. The vial- is sealed and marked by the student. The actual tests are conducted by an approved and certified commercial medical laboratory. Results are confidential and protected by medical ethics. Records are maintained by a private entity to assure protection from public information access. I If the test results are negative, the student is issued a D-FY-IT identification card, which includes the student's signature and photograph. If test results are positive, indicating substance traces, the student is given an opportunity to take a second test. If the student fails the second test, free counseling is made available.

The membership card entitles the student to discounts for movies, food, clothing, and other items at participating retail outlets, as well as entry to D-FY-IT parties, rallies, and special events. Peer support provides an important incentive. Continued compliance with the "no use" policy is verified by random retesting. Members who test positive must relinquish their D-FY-IT cards until they again test negative.
