History

D-FY-IT was founded by the Tyler, Texas Rotary Club in 1985 and has successfully tested over 25,000 youth without experiencing incidents of mislabeling, violating confidentiality, erroneous testing, or improper record keeping.

Similar type programs are successfully operating in Kilgore, Amarillo, Dallas, and Stillwell, Oklahoma.

These programs were started to develop a drug free lifestyle, a better means of communicating between community adults and youth, to improve youth images, and devise a positive method to define and attack the drug and alcohol problems of youth.

Voluntary student participation has continuously increased as each program grew and matured. The programs have nurtured a spirit of trust, confidentiality and respect among all groups. As a result, a strong decline in the use of drugs has been experienced in each program.
